Mother Goose on the Loose The Children's Department at the Bowlby Public Library is proud to offer a brand-new free program for children from birth through age 6 beginning in July. "Mother Goose on the Loose" is an award-winning 30-minute interactive early literacy program using familiar nursery rhymes, songs, finger plays, and rhythm instruments to involve children and their caregivers in active learning. Succeed on Tests! The Bowlby Public Library is offering access to Learning Express Library, a comprehensive, interactive online learning platform of practice tests and tutorial course series designed to help patrons (Students and Adult Learners) to succeed on the academic or licensing tests they must pass. You will get immediate scoring, complete answer explanations, and an individualized analysis of your results. To access LearningExpress, go to our home page and click on the LearningExpress Link, or go to Learning Express Library on the Web. Children’s Free Tutoring Program Bowlby Public Library is offering FREE tutoring for children and youth every Monday thru Thursday. Focus now on difficult subjects (reading, writing, and math) in a relaxed atmosphere with one-on-one tutors. Register by calling the Family Literacy Coordinator at 724-627-9776. BPL Literacy programs, materials, and supplies are sponsored and supported by Greene County United Way and Comcast Foundation.
After School Tutoring Program The After School Literacy program helps students with their homework along with specialized tutoring in any subject they may need help in. Bowlby Public Library provides children and teens with the learning materials they need such as workbooks, computers, educational software, and learning games. Along with a tutor who we match to your child's learning needs. Bowlby Library employs a Professor of English and a tutor with experience in Elementary and special education along with students from Waynesburg University's Bonar Scholar Program who volunteer their time as tutors. sessions are 75 minutes and are packed with learning fun! ~ funded by Comcast Foundation.
Adult Literacy Program It isn't just about teaching adults to read, we also help individuals study for tests such as the G.E.D., Civil Service exams, Drivers Licensing and Life Skills, teach important form-filling skills, and can even help those who want to go back to school with refresher courses in math and reading. We are also pleased to be able to offer assistance to adults who may wish to improve their reading and math skills. Times available to fit most schedules. Interlibrary Loan Service Interlibrary Loan Service is available through the Eva K. Bowlby Public Library. The ACCESS PA database represents a coordinated effort to facilitate resource sharing among libraries throughout the state. School, public, academic, and special libraries have their holdings listed in the database. This database contains more than 6.6 million titles and 44.5 million items. Money Donations The Bowlby Library welcomes your donations of money given as a memorial or honorarium to its library. Acknowledgments will be made to the donor and the family honored. DVD/VHS Donations Have you purchased your favorite movies on DVD and now have a supply of VHS videos in the way? Or books on CD? Have you thought about donating them to the Bowlby Public Library? The Library will add them to our collection of entertainment materials available for loan. Videos may be borrowed for 7 days. Come to the Library and "check out" our videos!
